Infection diseases in dogs remain an important and dynamic challenge, posing risk not only to dog health but also to public health due to zoonotic pathogens (infections transmitted between dogs and people). As dogs become increasingly mobile and communal environments (e.g., dog parks, dog daycare, shows, sporting events) more common, proactive disease prevention strategies are more important than ever. The symposium highlights the successes we have achieved, ongoing challenges, and future opportunities in reducing infections disease risks in dogs.
